Counselor Post Masters Fellow

POSITION: A Professional Academic Staff position in Counseling Services with the title of Counselor/Post Masters Fellowship is available beginning 8/17/20. This is a 10 month academic year position (August 17-June 11) for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 academic years.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family therapy, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Clinical supervision will be provided to individuals seeking hours for licensure.  The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire is deeply committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and seeks a mental health clinician who is committed to multiculturalism and can integrate that perspective into all aspects of their work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Clinical experience facilitating general process groups and psycho-educational workshops is preferred. Experience conducting brief therapy and outreach are also preferred.

DUTIES:
The Counselor is responsible for;

  • Providing individual, group, couples therapy, as well as crisis intervention counseling services to university students within a brief treatment model.
  • Assist in the goal of better meeting the needs of underrepresented students.  
  • Providing consultation services to faculty and staff.
  • Providing outreach to campus organizations and classes to inform students about personal development and mental health concerns.
  • Provide liaison and consultant work with faculty, staff, and administration concerning student and staff development and mental health needs.
  • Assume other duties as requested by the director, as appropriate.

THE UNIT: Counseling Services is a part of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion & Student Affairs Division at UWEC and is overseen by the Dean of Students.  Counseling Services works closely with the Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services and other student support units to provide integrated care for our clients. https://www.uwec.edu/counseling-services/
