Music and Theatre Arts: Acting Instructor in Musical Theatre

Acting Instructor / Musical Theatre (1) FTE Instructional Academic Staff Position in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts for the 2020-2021 Academic Year beginning with the administrative date of August 24, 2020 (note that classes don’t begin until September 2nd, 2020). The official title is in the Lecturer title series. This is a one-year appointment with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:  MFA or PhD required.  Strong background in musical theatre strongly preferred.  Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship.  Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. 

DUTIES:  Duties and responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, including Beginning Acting, Theatre Appreciation, Musical Theatre Survey, and Touring Opera (Direct), and Direct one mainstage production. 

DEPARTMENT: The Department of Music and Theatre Arts serves approximately 110 majors and minors in undergraduate programs in theatre arts and dance and offers BA degrees in theatre, and musical theatre, as well as a certificate in dance.  The Department also serves approximately 375 music majors and minors and is supported by 30 full-time and 11 part-time faculty, specifically 6 full-time faculty in theatre and dance.  The theatre and dance programs are primarily housed in the Pablo Center for Performing Arts (opened fall of 2018) which includes a 1200-seat theatre, a flexible 400-seat theatre, rehearsal, dance and community rooms, labs for sound and lighting, set and exhibit design, recording arts, multimedia production and costume design.
