Forms: Courtesy Reply Messages

When users complete a form, you can send automatically-generated email responses to them. This courtesy helps assure users that the information they submitted is properly received.

NOTE: For this feature to work, users must include their complete email addresses in the email field within the form.

Inserting the Optional Hidden Form Fields

  1. Open the file containing your form or create your form

  2. Right click the form » select Form Properties...
    The Form Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click ADVANCED...
    The Advanced Form Properties dialog box appears.

  4. Click ADD...
    The Name/Value Pair dialog box appears.

  5. In the Name and Value text boxes, type the name and value of the appropriate optional hidden form field

    courtesy_reply To turn on the courtesy reply message feature
    EXAMPLE: yes
    courtesy_reply_texta The first line of your courtesy reply text
    EXAMPLE: Thank you for taking the time...
    courtesy_reply_textb The second line of your courtesy reply text
    EXAMPLE: Call us if you need anything...
    courtesy_who_we_are How you would like to be identified
    EXAMPLE: LTS Web Dev
    OPTIONAL: A second line can be displayed by having another field with the name: courtesy_who_we_are2.
    courtesy_our_url The URL inserted in the footer of the automated email reply
    courtesy_our_email If you want to put your email (mailto) address in the footer of the reply, enter that value here

  6. Click OK
    You are returned to the Advanced Form Properties dialog box.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 until you have entered all the necessary hidden form fields
    When finished, the Advanced Form Properties dialog box displays all optional hidden form fields you have entered.

  8. Click OK

  9. Click OK
