UW-Eau Claire’s Response to COVID-19

We are in close contact with the Eau Claire City-County Health Department, Barron County Health Department and other local entities regarding preparedness and response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Our goal is to assure that all our students, faculty and staff remain safe and healthy and that we continue to provide the high-quality education that defines UW-Eau Claire.

Spring semester updates

Welcome back! Here's what you need to know about the spring 2022 semester.

Returning to campus

Students living in the residence halls must take a COVID test no more than 72 hours before your return to campus OR you may take a UWEC-provided test on your arrival at your dorm. If you are symptomatic with any illness including COVID please postpone your return to campus. Once on campus if you have a COVID exposure or COVID symptoms please seek medical care as needed, continue to mask, and self-isolate until you can get tested, and get tested promptly.

Semester information and protocols

Spring semester classes will be in-person. Students should deal with a COVID infection as they would any other illness. Contact your instructor and work out with them how you can make up any classes you need to miss. We also know that some classes may need to go online briefly if the instructor must isolate or quarantine, so be sure to check your emails regularly for class updates.

Students and employees who are not vaccinated should:

  1. Wear a mask indoors as well as outdoors where physical distancing is not possible. View mask guidelines here.
  2. Follow antigen testing protocols. Antigen testing is required once a week for non-vaccinated students and employees.

Students and employees who are vaccinated should:

  1. Wear a mask indoors as well as outdoors where physical distancing is not possible. View mask guidelines here.
  2. Feel welcome to skip regular antigen testing.

Everyone, whether they are vaccinated or not, should:

  1. Not come to campus if they are ill.
  2. Get tested for COVID-19, even if you have been vaccinated, should you develop symptoms.
  3. Follow UWEC instructions on isolation or quarantine protocols.

If you have a disability that impacts your ability to attend in-person activities, or you have a specific concern related to health conditions, you may work with Services for Students with Disabilities office to explore possible accommodations; employees should contact Human Resources

Campus tours and visit information

We have resumed in-person visits with the health and safety of our visitors and campus community as our top priority. Per the CDC's guidelines, our group sizes will be small and all visitors are required to wear a mask. As safety guidelines allow, we will add additional in-person visits including academic program and special interest visits.
