Blugold Beginnings provides a supportive cultural environment for students of color to live and learn together as a community while taking classes together, participating in programming, and developing a sense of community among the LLC students.
As a member of the LLC, you will engage with the OMA and Blugold Beginnings office staff and student service coordinators, and develop relationships with upperclassman mentors who are located on the first floor of Centennial Hall.
Programs + events
As a community, you will have the opportunity to participate in early move-in jumpstart, monthly gatherings including guest speakers, workshops and all campus and local community programming. You will notice frequent announcements of opportunities in the building to interact with the staff and students in your hall.
I have been able to make so many connections through Blugold Beginnings — there are many great people who want to see students succeed and who will go the extra mile for us as advocates and mentors.
The Blugold Beginnings Living Learning Community is supported by its assistant director, Rochelle Hoffman; an associate student services coordinator, Vaj Fue Lee; as well as RAs and student interns.
Who can participate?
Participants of the Blugold Beginnings LLC are first-year students who identify as students of color.
