Two certificates that can enhance your degree

The Certificate in Women’s Studies is designed for students who have a strong interest in studying women through a feminist analysis but are not able to complete the requirements for a major or minor in Women’s Studies. The certificate might appeal to those students who have limited opportunity to explore academic areas beyond their major discipline.

The Certificate in LGBTQ Studies is designed to provide a flexible option for students seeking a concentration in LGBTQ issues, and who wish to formally denote on their transcript this area of expertise in their academic training. This certificate program makes an excellent pairing with the Women’s Studies major, giving it an added credential and applicable area of expertise.

Pursuing my certificate in LGBTQ+ studies through the Women's Studies Program has broadened my understanding of systematic violence as it pertains to intersections of LGBTQ+ people's lives through different lenses of class, race, ability, and more. The courses for this certificate helped me gain a deeper understanding of oppression in its various forms.
