We have two minors currently offered under the environmental studies program. One of those is the environment, society, and culture minor. If you are interested in current environmental issues and their effects on our society, this minor is a great choice! No matter what your major is, this minor can be a great addition, as many companies, agencies, and entities are seeking employees with broad environmental knowledge.
The advantage to adding an environmental studies minor to your current major is that because of the broad coverage, many of the required courses will also cover your GE or LE requirements for your major. This is a great opportunity to add a valuable minor to your degree without having to add to your coursework or time to graduation!
Environment, Society, and Culture minor
24 credits required
In this minor, students gain the ability to answer critical environmental challenges ranging from air quality, food production safety and distribution, loss of critical habitats, issues related to urban growth, climate change, water pollution, and the spread and prevalence of disease. These areas of focus require students to apply and integrate concepts and tools of multiple disciples from across the campus and the community.
Opportunities with this minor
Although environmental studies may not be your main focus, adding a minor in environment, society, and culture can give you greater employment opportunities after graduation. By adding this minor, you are adding value to any employer looking for environmentally and sustainability conscious employees. The area of environment and sustainability has become a growing concern for many employers, so you are giving yourself and edge with this major!
