Applied Mathematics/Statistics

One degree, so many possibilities

An applied mathematics/statistics major gives you the ability to make powerful choices about your future. Once you’ve gained your degree as a Blugold, you have the opportunity to pursue a career that requires a scientific or engineering application of mathematics — or you may find that a statistics career such as quality improvement suits your interests. Many of your fellow Blugolds continue their education through graduate work in applied or statistical areas. No matter what your specific interests, the faculty, staff, advisors and numerous other academic resources are here to help you.

Applied Mathematics/Statistics Major

The applied mathematics/statistics major is a standard, 36 credit major, and requires a 24 credit minor. You’ll take the liberal arts core: the calculus sequence, Linear Algebra, Introduction to Real Analysis, and Abstract Algebra, which consists of 22 credits. Once your core classes are fulfilled, you’ll take at least 14 elective credits from a wide selection of upper level courses such as Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, Digital Signal Processing, Mathematical Probability or Mathematical Statistics.
