For those students who wish to add a liberal arts minor to another STEM or humanities major, this combination will give a solid base in both scientific method and geology. The core requirements are a 100-level geology class, along with Mineralogy & Petrology I, as well as 6 additional credits in upper-level geology courses. Field Studies I & II are recommended.

Geology, teaching minor

For students enrolled in the College of Education and Human Sciences, geology is a certifiable minor for those seeking secondary education licensure. As part of an earth science teaching emphasis, this minor requires 8 geology courses and additional electives from courses in physics and geography.
