Ever wonder what it means to study communication? Whether it be interpersonal or rhetorical, communication studies will give you an insight to communication, one of the most important aspects of our society. You’ll learn skills in research, theory, and persuasion. On top of that you can choose to learn intercultural communication, small group communication or leadership communication.

Our communication studies majors go on to pursue master and doctorate degrees, as well as go on to begin their professional careers. Blugold communication studies majors have gone on to careers in event planning, social media, politics, and writing. Your options are endless.

Communication Studies

36 credits (major) / 24 credits (minor)

You’ll learn to analyze and enhance human communication through courses that focus on theory, research and practice. After completing a common core of courses, you’ll select a variety of electives including courses focused on how communication builds and maintains relationships and how messages in political and popular culture influence society.
