How do I prepare for Online Orientation on Jan. 25?
- Know your UWEC username, student ID number, and the password you created — you’ll need this to register for your classes.

- Make sure you have adequate access to internet/wifi.
- Make sure you have access to a computer (a tablet or mobile phone will work if you don’t have access to a computer, but these are less user-friendly when signing up for classes). We also recommend using Chrome as your search engine, to access our live sessions on the Day of Orientation.
- A positive attitude — there is a lot to learn when transitioning to college!

Remember, many of your peers will experiencing similar questions and emotions, and our staff will be there to support you.

Summer 2021 Orientation FAQs (first year students)
The Day of Orientation
Which date should I pick?
During summer orientation sessions, we always say the sooner, the better. However, make sure to pick a day that not only works for you, but for your parent(s)/guest as well. You'll be selecting classes for your first semester and you'll want as many options as possible. We monitor classes closely, though, to offer more sections if needed.
And don't forget your placement exams need to be completed before your scheduled orientation date.
What if I have to change my date?
For summer orientation sessions, you have the ability to change your date through the web registration system until end of May. After that you will need to call 715-836-5053. Please contact the Office of Orientation at orientation@uwec.edu with any questions or concerns.
What if the date I want isn't listed?
This means that particular day is full, so make sure to have a backup day. You can keep checking back to see if there’s an opening, but there won’t be a waiting list.
What if the major listed isn't what I want?
That can easily be changed. Just make sure to make the change before the day you’ve selected, because you get assigned an advising group based upon your major, so it is important that this information is as accurate as possible.
What if I have not yet taken placement tests?
We have a variety of options to take your placement tests, both online and in-person. Please view all up-to-date information regarding Placement Testing examinations at UW-Eau Claire here.
