Find solutions and success

Dive deep into topics that spark your interests. Undergraduate research can help you learn new skills to stand out in a career field, connect with faculty experts and more. Blugolds conduct research across the country and around the world. Thirty-seven percent of our students take advantage of student-faculty collaborative research opportunities. That's one of the reasons why UW-Eau Claire was named a top master's-level university for undergraduate research in 2021 by the National Council on Undergraduate Research.

Step onto the world stage

At UW-Eau Claire, learning doesn’t just happen inside the classroom. We learn by getting out in the world. Our study abroad program offers opportunities to study in more than 30 countries. One out of five Blugolds study abroad, making UW-Eau Claire 17th in the nation for the number of students studying abroad for a semester or longer. Whether you are studying history in Europe or working with kangaroos in Australia for a science class, you will broaden your worldview.

If studying abroad isn't for you, we offer Blugolds a global education right here on campus. We bring in speakers from across the country, offer activities to expand your thinking and encourage a diverse learning environment where your voice will be heard.

Studying abroad was a truly eye-opening, life-changing experience for me. I learned to think more globally and was humbled when I came to realize how narrow my thinking had been. It set the tone for the work I've been doing in international education since my days at UWEC.

A wide variety of majors to choose from

Many Blugolds arrive on campus undecided about their major. But with 200+ academic programs to choose from at UWEC, you will be empowered to discover and explore your passions — and we will help you shape those passions into a career.

Find your fit in a student organization

UW-Eau Claire offers more than 250 student organizations in addition to music ensembles, intramural sports and university athletics. No matter what you are interested in, you’ll be able to find like-minded people who share your hobbies at UW-Eau Claire.

Surrounded by support

When you start your new college adventure at UWEC, we will be here to lend support in all aspects of your college life. It's important that you feel included, accepted and healthy in your academic and personal life.

We offer a variety of student support services such as counseling, health services and academic advising to support you on your journey. UW-Eau Claire is also recognized as a top college in Wisconsin for LGBTQ students. You are welcome here!

State school with a private-school feel

At just over 10,000 students, we offer many experiences found at larger universities, yet we have an atmosphere where you can form meaningful relationships at the same time. With plenty of events, clubs and activities, you can easily find your community on campus and in the classroom. In fact, 84 percent of our classes have fewer than 50 students, and the overall student-to-faculty ratio is 23 to 1. Teaching assistants don’t teach classes here — you’ll have faculty who truly care about you teaching all your classes.

An investment in your future

By choosing UW-Eau Claire, you are making a wise investment in your future. Ninety-seven percent of Blugolds are either employed or attending graduate school within six months of graduation. Thousands of our students have accepted job offers even before commencement. The median starting salary for graduates is $53,000. UW-Eau Claire students have also been recognized as having some of the lowest student debt averages in the region.

A community for all

Choosing UWEC means living in a place that will feel like your home away from home. Eau Claire is a vibrant city that offers a great college town experience with small town charm. You can choose to study in more than 20 eclectic coffee houses and discover a wide variety of diverse restaurants in Eau Claire. You can dabble in the arts and culture of the city with its 10 performing arts venues and national music festivals, including the newest addition to the arts scene, the Pablo Center at the Confluence, a state-of-the-art performance facility. And finally, when you’re ready to graduate and find a career, our community partners will support you through internships and career opportunities.
