CLEP: College Level Examination Program

General Examinations

  • CLEP general examinations should be taken before a student enrolls in college and must be taken before completion of 15 semester credits of college work and before completion of any college course in the area that is being tested.

  • Credits from these examinations will be counted as fulfilling one experience within the Liberal Education Core listed. The Natural Science exam does not fulfill the lab science requirement for Liberal Education Core (LE-K1 or LE-K2).

  • CLEP general exams are given by appointment in the Academic Testing Office, Schofield 226. The total cost is $95 per test: $80 paid to CLEP during online registration and $15 (check or cash) payable to UW-Eau Claire.

  • All students taking the CLEP must register online and obtain their voucher number. Students should have their voucher number ready when contacting the Academic Testing Office to schedule their exam.

  • For information about the exams and sample questions, consult the CLEP Web site.
