Protecting the privacy of UW-Eau Claire students and their records is all of our responsibility. Our institution is held to the policies of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) is a federal law that governs the privacy of student educational records, access to those records, and disclosure of information from them.
As a campus resource, we have a FERPA brochure available . The FERPA brochure is a tool to educate the campus community regarding student privacy rights and responsibilities.
This brochure is intended for faculty, staff, and student employees. In addition to providing an overview of FERPA, information is provided regarding the use of learning management systems, posting grades, technology best practices, and letters of recommendation.
Additional FERPA information can be found on the Student Privacy Rights (FERPA) webpage.
