Kinesiology - (from the Greek words "KINEIN", to move, and "LOGOS", to study)
Kinesiology is defined as the study of human movement. Here at UW – Eau Claire, we take a broad approach to this definition and examine the human movement throughout a wide range of daily activities including exercise, sport, education, work, and daily living. Our approach to this study of human movement comes from a biomechanical, physiological, psychological, sociological, and health care perspective. The faculty interacts with the students in various outreach programs, research, and class activities to assist with his/her development and understanding of the vast areas of the kinesiology sciences. The Department of Kinesiology promotes a transformative environment that engages the students through hands-on learning, active participation in the course content, and community service projects that relate to the student's future profession.
