Women's Lives & Experiences in NICARAGUA
It's time to begin thinking about participating in a study abroad program! Why not the WMNS Study Abroad Program in Nicaragua during summer 2015?
To encourage your participation, Blugold Commitment funding is supporting this program with an estimated $1450/student!
Here is a description of the program.
You will take the three-credit course entitled "Women's Lives and Experiences in Nicaragua" (WMNS 422, GE-III) taught by Professor Meghan Mehlos (Department of Languages) and Professor Rose-Marie Avin (Department of Economics.)
The primary goal of this program is to give you a vision of the social struggle for women's rights in Nicaragua, but more importantly, the struggle of women to claim their place in the development of the country and take action to promote freedom and sexual diversity. Students will live with host families and will participate in the daily lives of Nicaraguan women.
You must have taken at least one college-level Spanish language course prior to the program. If you have never taken Spanish, you should enroll in Spanish 101 for spring of 2015.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR: The program runs for 3 weeks, June 1-21, 2015, in Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
The priority application deadline is November 15, 2015. If you are interested, please contact:
