General Information about the Ceremony


  • Doors to Zorn Arena will open at 7:45 a.m. for the morning ceremony, and 12:45 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. Tickets are required for all guests, including infants and children.  The floor seating is reserved for graduates, special guests, faculty, the elderly and handicapped.  This area is monitored by our Usher Corp and you will be asked to show your tickets for the floor seating.

  • Make arrangements at Senior Countdown if your guests have special needs.
  • A musical prelude begins a half-hour before the ceremony.


  • There will be a remote site broadcast of the ceremony in Davies Center — Woodland Theater (328) and Ojibwe Grand Ballroom (330)

  • No tickets are required for the remote site broadcast.

  • Candidates should arrive no later than 8:10 a.m. for the morning ceremony, and
    no later than 1:10 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony.

  • Graduate line up will be in Hibbard Hall.

  • Please leave purses, wallets or other valuables with your family as there is no storage area available during the line up process.


  • Professional photographs will be taken of all graduates as they receive their diplomas.

  • Photographs are taken by GradImages.

  • A digital proof will be emailed approximately five to seven days after the ceremony and orders may be placed online.

  • Those who preregister will be notified immediately when photos are ready for online viewing and ordering. Receive $5 off orders of $25 and more by registering your e-mail via the link above.

  • Standing at the front for photos during the ceremony is not permitted. 


  • Graduates will receive only a diploma cover during the ceremony.

  • Diplomas will be mailed to graduate's permanent address four to eight weeks after Commencement.

    (via the MyInfo link at the top of your MyBlugold page)




  • Absolutely no alcohol or air horns will be permitted at the ceremony.


  • Stay seated as the platform party, faculty, and graduates exit the arena.

  • Graduates recess from the arena and are asked to make arrangements for a meeting place with guests beforehand.


  • A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Marketplace on the first floor of the W.R.Davies Student Center.

  • All graduates and guests are welcome.
