About our Keynote Speaker

Anna Cardarella

Anna Cardarella '03 '09
Anna Cardarella is the Executive Director of Western Dairyland Economic Opportunity Council, Inc., a nonprofit Community Action Agency serving Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson and Trempealeau Counties in Western Wisconsin. The agency's mission is to alleviate poverty-related conditions and to provide opportunities which enable people to advance economically and socially. Western Dairyland runs a variety of programs and employs 140 full-time employees. Anna was selected as the Executive Director of Western Dairyland by the Board of Directors in 2012. She is the first woman to hold this position in the agency's 52-year history.

Anna's path to success was unconventional. After three semesters at UW-Eau Claire, she was put on academic probation and was suspended from the university the following semester. Anna looks forward to sharing how she turned her life around and ultimately graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Economics in 2003. She soon started working as a Mobility Manager at Western Dairyland where she provided disadvantaged families with loans to purchase or repair vehicles for employment. She continued moving up the ladder at Western Dairyland and began pursuing her MBA at UW-Eau Claire. She graduated in 2009 and was selected in 2010 as the Outstanding MBA Student by the graduate faculty of the College of Business.

At Experience U, Anna will share her alumni success story. She will discuss the academic struggles she encountered and how she overcame them to become the first female Executive Director of Western Dairyland.
