There have been several requests for student professional Web pages. As a result, the campus is researching the issues and viability of providing student professional Web pages. We have selected a few faculty and student participants to work with. Participants in the test will have their Web space during the duration of the test (spring 2005). If the project is approved, the Web space will continue to be available and all students will be able to establish their own professional Web space. If the project is not approved, the test spaces will be removed.
Use the "Web Accounts" link in the People site to create your Web space. Once your account is created, you will receive an e-mail message with details about access to your space.
You can also use this link, once your site is completed, to add it to the A-Z list. The same link can be used if you should ever want to remove the A-Z listing.
Because UW-Eau Claire takes no responsibility for the content of these pages, there are no "style" requirements. There are no other style requirements. However, it is highly recommended that you include an ID block on the bottom of all your pages. On the bottom of the default home page you get when your site is initially created, you will find an example.
Web Page authors take full responsibility for their Web pages. These responsibilities are described in general below. See the UW-Eau Claire WWW General Guidelines for more detailed information.
As a public institution of higher learning, we are are required to take appropriate steps to ensure that our public Web sites are universally accessible by all persons, including those without access to high speed Internet connections, those who do not have the latest computer technology, and those persons using special technology such as screen readers for the sight impaired. Please check out our section on Accessible Web Pages for more information on how your pages can satisfy this requirement.
You are allowed up to 25 mb of disk space for your site. A quota system protects the space from overuse.
If the project is approved, your Student Professional Pages will be removed at the same time your other computing resources, such as email accounts, are removed. If students wish to retain their work, it is their responsibility to copy their files prior to that time.
If the project is not approved, these pages will be removed at the conclusion of the project. Individuals with pages in the space will be notified and given ample time to copy their files.
