WAPT is a section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). The goal of the WAPT is to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics, especially as it pertains to the teaching of physics.
The 2011 WAPT meeting was held October 28th and 29th (Friday and Saturday) at UW-Stevens Point. Meeting Website

Roger Hanke was awarded the Service to the Teaching of Physics at by President Matt Vonk at our annual meeting in Stevens Point. Roger has been active in WAPT for years and recently retired from Northcentral Technical College. We honor his longterm committment to our organization and to our profession.

Our own Jim Mallmann from MSOE won first prize at the AATP unlimited cost apparatus competition! He won with his Remote Breathing Status Monitor. Details can be found in this pdf. Outside of the oscilloscope he said the cost was about $3! .

Using Research-Based Curricula and Tools to Promote Active Learning in Introductory Courses
For our K-12 colleagues:
1. Please check the letter of intent to the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery for a great opportunity for K-12 teachers; details are given at this WIERC site that contains a survey for K-12 teachers.
2. Please check this AAPT message to all high school teachers.
3. The AAPT Teacher Preparation Committee is looking for your input. Please contact Paul Hickman (Chair of the committee).
