WAPT is a section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). The goal of the WAPT is to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics, especially as it pertains to the teaching of physics.
The 2009 WAPT meeting will be held October 30th and 31st (Friday and Saturday) at UW- Whitewater. Our host will be Steve Sahyun (email)
There is a conference devoted to Advanced Laboratory instruction to be held on July 23-25, 2009 in Ann Arbor, Mich (AAPT meeting is 25-29th). Link Lowell McCann of UWRF is one of the organizers.

Using Research-Based Curricula and Tools to Promote Active Learning in Introductory Courses
For our K-12 colleagues:
1. Please check the letter of intent to the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery for a great opportunity for K-12 teachers; details are given at this WIERC site that contains a survey for K-12 teachers.
2. Please check this AAPT message to all high school teachers.
3. The AAPT Teacher Preparation Committee is looking for your input. Please contact Paul Hickman (Chair of the committee).

Jim Madsen received this years Service to and Excellence in the Teaching of Physics at the College Level Award from the WAPT. Erik Hendrickson (r) presents the plaque. We welcome to the WAPT anyone interested in physics and related disciplines, whether or not they teach courses in these disciplines.
