Time-Frequency
Analysis of Musical Rhythm
Music is the language of our
souls.
This page contains supporting materials for the article, Time-frequency analysis of musical rhythm. It contains sound files for all the examples discussed in the article, software (such as FAWAV) used for analyzing and producing these examples, a linking page to the references for the paper, video demonstrations, and a document that provides further details on using the software (which for reasons of space were omitted from the article). Using FAWAV

Note: The software Fawav
contains a tracing feature for spectrograms and scalograms (select
Graph/Audio from the spectrogram or scalogram menu). One example
of this feature is that it illustrates perfectly the correlation between the
objective percussion scalogram discussed in the paper and the perceived sound of
the corresponding percussion passage.
The video demonstrations were created using this software,
but you don't need it to view them. They should run fine within most web
browsers.
