This is a survey article which
describes my method of denoising
images, called ``tree-adapted wavelet
shrinkage.''  Tree-adapted wavelet
shrinkage provides excellent noise
reduction features, comparable with
state-of-the-art denoisers, and 
is compatible with image compression.

The survey also provides brief
introductions to wavelet-analysis
of images and some classical wavelet-based
denoising methods.
