Amygdala

The amygdala is involved in emotional reactions to music.  It connects to the hippocampus (initial links for long-term memory storage are mediated by emotional reactions), to the nucleus accumulens (which mediates the release of mood altering hormones dopamine), and to the pre-frontal cortex (for conscious processing of emotional affect).
