Removing clutter from images

Removing random clutter (also called "noise") from digital images is an important aspect of two-dimensional digital image processing.  The two images shown below are an example of this type of image processing.  The image on the left is severely degraded by random clutter, while the image on the right is the processed image (obtained using the free software Fawave used in Math 313).   In Math 313 we will discuss how this removal of random clutter is done.
