The report presents summary information of a survey completed by 524 senior students in the Spring of 1997 regarding degree completion requirements, and institutional and student impediments to timely graduation. It also includes comments and feedback by students about the highlights and lowlights of their academic experience, course availability, completion rates, and advising information.
- Fall 1997 Freshman Experience Classes - Senator Lozar
Fall 1997 was the first implementation of the University Senate approved policy to establish specially designed course offerings for new freshmen. The courses are ones typically taken by new freshmen but with enrollments of about 20 students per section. In addition to mastery of course content and skills, the goal of these courses is to promote a closer connection to the University through participation in out-of-class activities, interaction with a senior student mentor, and development of closer relationships among the students and with faculty. The report provides quantitative and attitudinal information on the outcomes of the first offering of these courses.
