Learn through Experience

Employers indicate that a college degree is not enough; they want grads who come with experience! UW-Eau Claire students find that extra experience through professional development opportunities, faculty student research, internships and community service.

UWEC students become part of the Eau Claire community by giving at least 30 hours of Service Learning - anything from cooking in a local soup kitchen to building a house. The choice is yours! Many students find this one of the most rewarding "classes" they take.

Think you want to teach the world to sing (or add, or read)? You'll not only student teach, but even before admission to the program, you'll have the opportunity to observe a classroom, confirming that education is the right fit for you.

UW-Eau Claire's research programs allow you to explore new heights, and these students are living proof! Students were not surprised when UWEC was recognized as one of twelve universities in the country to offer exemplary undergrad research opportunities.

Make a web of connections. How do you get a cubicle of your very own? Get an internship! Ninty-six percent of employers that have UWEC interns say they would recommend them for hire upon graduation. The perfect internship for you is never more than one semester away!

Maybe she's pointing out a geological rift or explaining the linguistic differences between southern and northern Wisconsinites. Regardless, UWEC students have the opportunity to share their faculty-student research findings at campus, state and national levels.
