Bridge to the future

UW_Eau Claire Music group on Bridge in early 1970'sAs construction of the Fine Arts Center and campus footbridge neared completion in 1970, these student jazz musicians, led at the time by composer, arranger and former Broadway trumpet player Dominic Spera (under the staircase), were eager to get to the other side of the Chippewa River and take advantage of the new building’s professional, state-of-the-art facilities. The first university structure to open on the north side of the river was in 1986 named in honor of former Chancellor Leonard Haas and his wife, Dorellen.
