Building boom

aerialThe decade of the 1960s was a period of tremendous growth on the campus of what was then Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire. Construction on L.E. Phillips Science Hall (the building site on the left) began in summer 1963, and a major addition to Davies Center was completed in 1964. Seven residence halls also took shape during the 1960s. Yet to be built in the central part of lower campus were Schneider Social Science Hall, Hibbard Humanities Hall, a high-rise addition to McIntyre Library and the nursing building. UW-Eau Claire is about to undergo another period of expansion, with a new student center, children’s center and academic building, projects totaling nearly $100 million, to be built over the next several years.
