The Blugold athletics program has done well this season. In the initial NCAA Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, which measure the success of programs from around the country, the Blugolds are in 28th place out of more than 430 institutions.

So far this year, the women’s cross country team leads the athletics program with a fourth-place finish at its NCAA Championship. Three Blugolds earned All-American honors, finishing 23rd or better in a field of 279 runners. The team also won its fourth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.

In winter sports, women’s hockey hosted a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series for the first time in program history. Men’s swimming and diving took second in the conference, its best finish since 2000, while Art Brandt was named WIAC Coach of the Year.
