During the winter season, the Blugolds saw a number of student-athletes competing on the national level. Wrestler Josh Holforty recorded an impressive finish at the NCAA Division III Championships as he took third at 197 pounds. He was one of only eight representatives from the WIAC to earn All-American honors.

The swimmers and divers also had a good showing at nationals after sending four individuals. The last time more than four Blugolds competed at nationals was 2002. Men’s diver Bryan Dykstra and women’s swimmer Angie Bakula both grabbed All-American finishes during the four-day meet. Dykstra’s best finish came in the one-meter dive as he took eighth place. He also finished 12th in the three-meter event. Bakula set two school records, taking 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 14th in the 500-yard freestyle. Diver Ken Ritt and swimmer Kirsten Lickel also competed for the Blugolds.
