Environmental artist Roy Staab visited UW-Eau Claire last fall to work with students on an outdoor art installation.
Throughout his career, Staab has collaborated with communities on his site-specific pieces, which are often located on or near water and incorporate plants and other natural materials found near the site. His sculpture at UW-Eau Claire was installed along the Chippewa River under the north side of the university footbridge. The installation was allowed to deteriorate naturally, and remnants of the piece could still be seen several months after its completion.
Staab’s visit preceded a Foster Gallery exhibit documenting 31 years of his environmental artwork.
