Kate Gomoll ’84 is the president and founder of Gomoll Research & Design Inc., and her husband, Tom Gomoll ’83, leads multidisciplinary design teams at GRD. Both are UW-Eau Claire psychology graduates with technical writing minors.
Kate has 20 years of experience in the area of software interface design and usability. She is known for her straightforward approach and her ability to motivate others.
Tom is an expert in creating compelling, successful user experiences. He led the groups that designed the Macintosh System Software and DIRECTV’s onscreen interface.
Kate and Tom met in a psychology class at UW-Eau Claire. They later studied abroad together in Harlaxton, England.
Kate said the skills she learned at UW-Eau Claire laid a foundation for her work today.
“I think those skills really helped me and continue to help me throughout my career,” she said. “I use them every day.”
Tom believes receiving a liberal arts education has been especially important.
“Liberal arts meant everything for me at Eau Claire,” he said. “Multidisciplinary skills are really important for being successful in the real world.”
