Welcome to the web site of the Department of Social Work. Our baccalaureate social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the national standard-setting organization for social work education. This accreditation means that the social work program you are contemplating, or in which you enroll, has met the high standards of CSWE and prepares students for entry-level careers in the social work field.
As of July 2001, about 385 undergraduate and 120 graduate social work programs in the United States are accredited. The accreditation process requires a lengthy period of self-study, an on-site visit by a team of social work educators, and a review by the Commission on Accreditation. The CSWE has recognized the quality of the social work program at UW-Eau Claire since 1974, the year when accreditation of undergraduate social work programs began.
We look forward to talking with you further about the social work program and your career in this helping profession. This website is designed to provide a wealth of information to prospective and current students and to answer many of your questions about social work and UW-Eau Claire.
