James S. Walker    Image Compression   

One project that I have is to perfect an image compression algorithm that meets a targeted objective measure of image
quality.  Preliminary results and coding have been promising.  In many cases, our method performs better than JPEG 2000,
the industry standard for photographic image compression.   In this project we will perfect the existing code and algorithm,
and prepare a paper for submission to a journal in this fiels (such as Optical Engineering).
