Information Technology
The Information Technology Commission, or ITC, is concerned with information technology issues affecting all students. It acts as a resource for students on UWEC services in this area and conveys information between students and UWEC administration concerning information technology. ITC serves as a liaison between student organizations, Student Senate, Division of Information and Technology management, and the administration on technology issues, including making recommendations for the allocation of the student technology fee.

11.05.07 - ITC began its budget process this past
week. While continuing to work on online voting, a
syllabus database, and file sharing policy, we have
begun to craft a masterpiece of a tech budget.
Instead of requiring you all to attend a budget
meeting, I will just be presenting the budget in
front of the Senate. We will have an ITC meeting
next Wednesday at 3:30, and you are all inveted to

10.29.07 -
We will have a meeting this Wednesday at 3:30 in the
Tech Conference Room. We will continue our quest for
online voting and open courseware. Wednesday night,
Rick Richmond from LTS and I will be presenting a
proposal for dorm wireless to RHA. |

10.22.07 - We had an ITC meeting this past week. We
are continuing our work on many issues, including
online voting, Open Courseware, and copyright

10.15.07 -
There will be an ITC meeting this coming Wednesday at
3:30pm in the Tech Conference Room. Meet at the Student
Senate office at 3:20 if you want to go there with the
rest of the group.

10.08.07 - We had a meeting last week and continued
our discussion of OpenCourseWare. We also discussed
further options to combat file sharing and protect
students from legal action and talked about ways
that ITC could get the word out if there was ever a
dangerous situation on campus.

10.01.07 - There will be a meeting this Wednesday,
October 3rd at 3:30pm in the Tech Conference room.
We will be discussing technology policy.

09.24.07 - ITC had a meeting last Wednesday. We
discussed Alumnia email accounts, E voting, OCW, and
all the changes to UWEC in the realm of technology
this summer.

09.17.07 - There will be a meeting of ITC in the
Tech Conference Room of the Old Library on
Wednesday, Sept. 19th at 3:30pm. The Student Senate
S-drive is up and running, as are the Exec Board
Email jumps.

05.07.07 -
Last week
was our last meeting of the year, but it was a
productive one. We allocated surplus ITC funds to help
the Library fund some new databases and explored the
options available for online student voting. In
addition, we decided to remove the installation
restrictions currently in place on the rental laptops.
The RIAA situation was discussed in length as well.

04.30.07 - There is no
report.

04.23.07 -
We had a very productive meeting last week. We began
work on a resolution concerning the RIAA issue and
discussed options to increase laptop availability. The
search engine on the UWEC website will be upgraded for
the fall and our database systems will switched to
PeopleSoft databases a la System mandate. We are also
exploring an idea to increase library funding using
leftover tech fee dollars. Our next meeting is next
Wednesday at 3pm in the Tech Conference Room in the Old
Library.

04.16.07 -
There will be an ITC meeting on Wednesday at 3pm at the
Conference room on the second floor of the Old Library.
We will discuss the new University regulations regarding
file sharing, as well as the potential for getting a new
search engine for the UWEC website.

04.09.07 - This past week
in ITC, we discussed the RIAA legal actions, what
students can do to protect themselves, and other legal
options that UWEC can make available to students as
alternatives to illegal file sharing. I met the
other commission members and we also discussed potential
upcoming issues.
