Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society, was founded in 1920 and the UWEC chapter, Omicron Upsilon, was established in 1986.
The honor society pursues three primary goals: to elect honor students into membership; to promote student interest in political science; and to sponsor extracurricular activities related to public affairs.
To qualify for membership, students must attain high standards of scholarship and academic distinction, both in political science coursework and overall academic work. Applications for membership are accepted both in the fall and spring semesters.
Elections take place at the second meeting of the spring semester. Officers are elected by secret ballot and serve for two semesters.
