College Republicans was formed at UWEC in 1957 as Young Republicans, adopting its current name in 1981.

Its purposes are: to promote youth participation in the collection, analysis, discussion and dissemination of information concerning political affairs, to bring young people into the Republican Party and to provide an opportunity for them to find political expression and recognition, to train young people as effective political workers, organizers, and activists and to cooperate in the election of the Republican Party's nominees, and to foster and encourage the activities of the Republican Party, to keep the party cognizant of the grassroots feeling of its members, and to promote the party's ideals.

The key to College Republicans membership is political involvement: as individuals and as a group in current political issues; as participants in political campaigns and drives on the campus and in the community; and as arrangers of and participants at speaker presentations representing a wide range of political points of view.

Meetings are held two Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. per month. Elections are conducted at the annual meeting in March. Active membership is open to any student.

If you are interested in more information or want to join this organization please call or email the Advisor or President.
