Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America was founded on October 6, 1898. Gamma Beta Chapter was installed at UWEC on May 16, 1971.
The purposes of Sinfonia are to encourage and actively promote the highest standards of creativity, performance, and education in music in America, to develop and encourage loyalty to the Alma Mater, to foster the mutual welfare and brotherhood of students in music, to develop the truest fraternal spirit among its members, and to instill an awareness of music's important role in the enrichment of the human spirit.
Membership is open to any male student with a minimum gradepoint average of 2.0 who demonstrates strong interests or talents in music.
Meetings are held twice a month. Officers are elected annually and installed on or before the first day of April.
