The UWEC Chapter of The National Student Speech, Language, and Hearing Association was formed in 1967.
The objectives of this organization are: to create and stimulate an interest among university students in speech and hearing therapy, to encourage professional growth, to foster a spirit of unity by coordinating the interests and efforts of persons with a common goal by offering social and professional fellowship and by providing situations in which students and faculty may work together to advance the profession as a whole, to aid in public relations with other University departments and with local organizations interested in knowing about speech and hearing pathology, and to continue working with NSSHLA.
Membership is open to all students interested in speech and hearing therapy.
Meetings are held monthly and elections are conducted in January.
