The American Chemical Society was chartered in March of 1967.
Its purpose is to give students an opportunity to meet fellow chemistry students and exchange ideas, provide an opportunity for students to gain experiences in preparing and presenting technical material before chemistry oriented audiences, provide a means of securing material and personnel for the monthly meetings, act as a service organization for the chemistry department, i.e. tutoring, and develop a sense of pride and union among chemistry students.
Membership is open to students who have completed one year of work in good academic standing towards a major or minor in chemistry or chemical engineering. Associate (non-voting) membership is open to students who are pursuing a major or minor in chemistry or chemical engineering but do not satisfy the above.
Regular meetings are held on a monthly basis on the first Tuesday of each month. Election of officers is held in January.
If you are interested in more information or want to join this organization please call or email the Advisor or President.
