The International Association of Business Communicators organization was formed in February 1985.
The purpose of this group is to expose communication students to the professional standards and practices of communication within business, industry and associations. This shall be carried out by: understanding and exchanging ideas among members; promoting interaction between students and professionals; promoting the development and application of improved methods and programs of communication; demonstrating the practical value of effective communication within the academic and professional environment; enhancing the training and development of individual members through the collection and dissemination of information of value and interest to members; and enhancing career opportunities for prospective business communicators.
IABC strives for the highest ethical standards in carrying out these purposes in order to advance the academic and professional development of its members.
Membership is open to all students.
A minimum of three meetings per semester are held.
