Sigma Theta Tau was established at UWEC in April 1997.
The purpose of Sigma Theta Tau is to recognize superior scholarship and development of leadership qualities; to foster high professional standards and encourage creative work, and to strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession of nursing.
Students in the School of Nursing must have completed at least one half of the required nursing curriculum and be in the upper third of their nursing class.
Two business meetings and two educational meetings are held each academic year.
