Sigma Gamma Zeta II was formed in February 1979.
The purpose of this organization is to give recognition for academic achievements to returning adult students who often are not eligible for honors candidacy due to reduced credit loads and/or non-participation in campus leadership activities because of other life focuses. Many adult students are often combining course work with the demands of a family and full or part-time employment.
Sigma Gamma Zeta II Eligibility Criteria: Students must be 25 years or older; Undergraduate students must be in sophomore standing with a total G.P.A. of 3.5 or above or a resident G.P.A. of 3.5 or above on 30 or more resident credits; Graduate students must have at least nine resident graduate credits with a 3.5 or above G.P.A.
There are a minimum of two business meetings each spring semester.
Officers are appointed (by volunteering) at the first meeting of Spring Semester, and assume duties until the conclusion of Honors Week activities in the year in which they are appointed.
