Psi Chi National Honors Society in Psychology was founded September 4, 1929. The UWEC Chapter was chartered May 13, 1964. Psi Chi is one of the nation's largest honor societies, ranking in size only below the societies in history and engineering.
The purpose of this organization is to advance the science of psychology and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology.
Basic membership requirements are: completion of twelve credits in psychology, registration for major and minor standing in psychology or for a program in psychology which is equivalent to such standing, gradepoint averages of at least 3.5 in all psychology courses and 3.0 overall, and high standards of personal behavior.
Regular meetings are held every month. Election of officers is conducted in December.
