The UWEC mathematics honorary fraternity, Mu Alpha Tau Eta was granted a charter in 1977. In February 1978, the fraternity was installed as a chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honors fraternity. The name was changed to Wisconsin Gamma-Kappa Mu Epsilon.

The objectives of Kappa Mu Epsilon are: to further the interests in mathematics, to realize the important role mathematics plays in our society, to recognize outstanding achievement in the study of mathematics, to develop an appreciation of the power and beauty possessed by mathematics, and to familiarize the members with the advances being made in mathematics. Activities include student presentations of mathematical topics, publicizing and promoting visiting lecturers, and field trips to industries of interest.

Local membership is open to all math majors and minors. National membership is open to students who have completed 14 credit hours of math, including two semesters of calculus, with a 3.00 gradepoint average, and who rank in the top 1/3 of their class.

If you are interested in more information or want to join this organization please call or email the Advisor or President.
