Project Description: Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes provides fun, educational one-day events throughout the school year to girls of all ages. Students are needed to run activity stations at various events. Schedules are flexible - help at one event or at five. Our organization will provide students with volunteer details two weeks before the event ensuring plenty of time to become familiarized with volunteer responsibilities. Girl Scout events cover a wide range of topics that girls are interested in today: arts/culture, health/wellness, science, leadership/adventure, and camp/outdoors. Dates and times for events in the Eau Claire area can be found on our website and transportation can be provided if needed. Dates Needed: 10/17/09 through 12/5/09
Skills/Availability Requirement: An ability and enthusiasm to work with youth ages 5 - 17 is all we require. Events are generally held on Saturdays. Contact us for more information!

Project Description: The Oconto Youth Center is seeking college-age students to serve as volunteer supervisors and activity leaders. Fall hours are Monday through Friday 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. Summer hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. A background check would be completed on anyone considering volunteering at the center. Training and support will be provided. We offer an internet computer lab, indoor skateboard park, game area, and arts and crafts. You would be involved directly with the youth, helping with homework, playing games, assisting with arts and crafts and assisting with computer questions. We are open to ideas and new projects that could be developed by the volunteer supervisor.

Marketing Student will focus on numerous daily marketing projects to gain visibility and organization recognition in the community. Duties will include: updating website content, writing event summaries and articles for quarterly newsletter, writing content for media press releases, designing window displays at the Club to promote programs and events and other duties as they occur. Project Description: This is an individual project with the goal of making a positive contribution to the life of a special needs student. I am currently looking for TWO UWEC students to have a mentor relationship with two boys. One of my students would like to learn how to play the guitar. The other student is very interested in skateboarding and music. Both of my students need an outside positive interest. Neither have a physical or developmental disability. Meeting time and place can be discussed.
Skills/Availability requirement: Guitar playing ability is necessary for one of these positions. Formal lessons not expected.

Project Description: As a non-profit organization our success relies on the generosity of our volunteers- people who want to make a difference by providing a safe, exciting, and educational place for children and adults alike to discover and learn. CMEC has a need for volunteers who have experience working with and/or enjoy working with children. CMEC has an on-going need for Exhibit Floor and Program volunteers who will be CMEC's onsite host helping museum visitors get acquainted with the museum facilities and exhibits, ensuring the safety of visiting children, and facilitating the museum traffic flow, ensure cleanliness of the museum. The volunteer may also assist with art projects, puzzles, games, etc in the activity rooms. We also need Birthday Party and Field Trip volunteers. The b-day party volunteers will help with CMEC birthday parties which includes decorating the party room, answering questions, and other hosting-type of things. The Field Trip volunteers would be responsible for helping these groups by conducting tours, fielding questions, and other tasks to make them feel welcome and comfortable. We have very flexible hour and are willing to work with the student's schedule. It is best to volunteer weekday mornings, weekends or during birthday parties and field trips.

Project Description: We are providing parent education workshops for the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse in partnership with the Consortium for Substance Abuse Prevention of Eau Claire County. To ensure that parents will have no obstacles in attending the 5 week session we provide child care. Student involvement would be child care and providing activities that relate to the education the parents are receiving. Orientation, training, and supervision would be provided by the project supervisor. The student would meet with the project supervisor and be oriented on the Family Resource Center's mission, the parent education, and the overall expectation of the student's involvement. Training would consist of educating the student on activities they would be participating with the children. Supervising of the student would be limited, but the project supervisor would check in weekly to see how things are going and if any needs or problems are needed to be addressed. Other child care options for parenting education classes held throughout the week are also available. The times and days for this varies.
Skills/Availability requirement: We are looking for students that have worked with and are comfortable working with children of all ages. Availability would be once a week for two hours, or a particular day, undetermined at this time, for a 5 week session. Numerous sessions will be held at different locations, so options for different evenings will be available.

Project Description: The MBA is interested in help with either a portion of the project or in the overall planning of the seasonal activities. The focus is on making the experience one that kids will enjoy. There will be five teams from Mondovi and one or two teams from Gilmantown. University students will gain experience in developing team sponsors, recruiting coaches and running a volunteer program. A committee of local volunteers would supervise the students.
Skills/Availability requirement: Students should be available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 5 to 8 p.m. or whenever games are schedule. It would also be advantages of the student could attend scheduled Board meetings. General knowledge of baseball would be helpful.

Project Title: Clubhouse Volunteer
Project Description: The Clubhouse provides a free, safe and fun after school environment to study, learn, grow, and enjoy life. We have a need for volunteers who have had experience and/or enjoy working with kids. There are various projects that are available to volunteer time and energy with various amounts of commitment. The Clubhouse is open Monday through Thursday from 3-6pm, Friday from 5-10pm, and Saturday 8-11pm. The role of the student volunteer would be to supervise the middle school aged students, provide homework help, and have fun with kids. Some specific examples of volunteer opportunities are taking kids to swim at the YMCA, facilitate an art project, a music program, homework help one-on-one, or tailor your own idea that we can cater to the needs of the middle school aged students. We can have a structured role for the volunteer or we can collaborate with the volunteer to create their own project with our supervision. We will provide training, support, and do background checks on our volunteers before beginning work. We are flexible and excited to work with the university community.
Skills/Availability requirement: We would prefer a commitment of one night a week per Eau Claire School District semester.
