Minutes – STD Officer’s Meeting

Present: Gloria, Dan, Grant, Gloria A., Megan, Amanda, Ann

Dan updated us at to progress on the Midwest Regional Conference. Assembled acceptance letters for submissions w/conference information and stuffed envelopes to be mailed to attendees, both those who submitted and those who are simply attending.

Gloria said that Zenia will plug the conference in the national Sigma Tau Delta e-newsletter; therefore we will allow registration (but not submissions) for a few more days.

Discussed rooms for conference presentations; tentatively, they are as follows:

Friday, Oct. 20: HHH 320 from 11:00 – 1:30
HHH 323 from 1:30 – 5:00

Saturday, Oct. 21: HHH 229 from 9:00 – 5:00 (or similar room w/75 capacity)

We have a backup for larger groups in HHH if necessary.

Discussed refreshments for breaks – coffee and either cookies or doughnuts Saturday morning and possibly Friday morning. We will talk more about this next week.

Thursday, Oct. 19 from 5:00-7:00 PM there will be a social gathering in the Penthouse, after which attendees will be urged to attend the readings at Acoustic Café.

Friday, Oct. 20: lunch on your own. Ann will pick up brochures from the food services to hand out with registration packets Friday morning. We will also have Volume One available for all attendees so they can see what is available for entertainment and restaurants in the area.

Saturday, Oct. 21 we will have pizza delivered to the presentation room for lunch. The Chippewa Falls High School will be in attendance most of the day Saturday.

Registration forms will be printed and left in HHH 405 so teachers can distribute them in their classes.

Dan is taking care of the program. We will talk with faculty about the banquet and urge them to attend, especially promoting August Rubrecht’s entertainment that evening.

Next meeting will be held Thursday, October 5 in the Penthouse at 6:00 PM.
