American Communication Association.  Although ACA does have annual conferences, it is primarily an on-line, scholarly organization.  Site includes the Center for Communication Studies (many links), the Center for Communication Law, and the ACA's on-line American Communication Journal,
Association for Educational Communications and Technology
Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Publisher of Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism & Mass Communication Educator, Journalism & Mass Communication Review.  Divisions include groups include Advertising (publishes Journal of Advertising Education), Magazine, Mass Communications and Society (publishes Mass Communication & Society), Public Relations (publishes Journal of Public Relations Research), and Radio-Television Journalism. Association for Women in Communication (AWC)
Canadian Communication AssociationRA journal of research and scholarship encompassing the field of communication and journalism studies giving emphasis to Canadian work and Canadian issues.
Center for Communication (CENCOM)
Central States Communication Association. Regional communication association, publisher of Communication Studies.  Interest groups include Argumentation and Forensics, Intercultural Communication, Mass Communication,  Political Communication, Professional and Organizational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Public Relations.
Communication Institute for On-line Scholarship (CIOS)An extremely useful site, updated daily.  Poses many questions which would make good topics for speeches or research papers and offers an excellent selection of on-line C J research sources.
International Association for Media and Communication Research  (IAMCR)
International Communication Association. Site includes tables of contents and abstracts of recent articles from the ICA's journals: Communication Theory, Human Communication Research and Journal of Communication.
International Listening Association.  Site includes exercises, discussion site, links to resources.
International Speech Communication Association (ICSA)
National Communication Association. (Formerly Speech Communication Association). NCA Journals include Communication Education, Communication Monographs, Critical Studies in Mass Communication, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Quarterly Journal of Speech, and Text & Performance Quarterly.  Site includes some article abstracts, numerous links to academic programs, other professional organizations, etc.

Many of the communication organizations listed in the top section of this page have "Organizational Communication" divisions: especially the International Communication Association, the National Communication Association, Central States Communication Association, Eastern Communication Association, Southern States Communication Association, and Western Communication Association.  Also, go back to the directory for my links to specific subject areas within the fields of Organizational Communication and Human Resource Development.  Other professional organizations with appropriate websites follow:
The Academy of Management  offers several interest groups of interest to organizational communication students and scholars; its membership (and officers) are comprised of those interested primarily in management, organizational psychology, organizational communication, and several other related fields.  Its primary publications are the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, and the Academy of Management Executive.   The Research Methods division, which sponsors the journal Organizational Research Methods, provides an interdisciplinary treasure trove of newsletters, articles, links and syllabi.  The primary purpose of the Organizational Communication and Information Systems Division is to encourage professional scholarship pertaining to the study of behavioral and social aspects of communication and information systems within organizations; it also provides newsletters, articles, links and syllabi.  Other divisions include Conflict Management Gender and Diversity in Organizations, Human Resources Division, Management Consulting Division, Organization Development and Change Division.
Academy of Human Resource Development,  Although this organization was founded only a few years ago for the purpose of promoting increased research in the field of Human Resource Development, at least half of AHRD's members are practitioners rather than academics.  Publications include Human Resource Development Quarterly, Advances in Human Resource Development, and Human Resource Development International.  This site presents some links to journal articles, other research, and numerous other HRD-relevant organizations
Association for Business Communication (ABC) publishes the Journal of Business Communication and Business Communication Quarterly.  JBC has published some significant articles about communication audits and other organizational communication research studies.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT. Consists primarily of practitioners; publishes Training and Development, Technical Training, many books and manuals, and co-publishes (with AHRD) Human Resource Development Quarterly.  Keep digging through the site, searching for libraries and research compilations--you will find research reports, bibliographies, and other good stuff.

International Association of Business CommunicatorsAimed primarily at practitioners, especially in the field of Public Relations, this organization offers a wealth of information about careers, etc.
Institute for Public Relations (IPR) http://www.instituteforpr.org/
Public Relations Society of America.  Although composed primarily of Public Relations practitioners, the PRSA has worked with colleges and universities to establish guidelines for PR programs.  The PRSA has also set up professional certification programs to ensure lifelong learning among professionals.
