A1 horizon - 0 to 9 cm; very dark brown (10YR 2/2) sandy, course, subangular loam; medium sorted, mixed lithology, dominantly quartz; small to huge, weak, subangular to granular structure; weak, course, subangular blocks; slightly sticky, non-plastic, weak consistence; clear and abrupt boundary; root quantity is common. |

Summary We determined pit 2 to be a 508A Farrington loamy sand with 0 to 3 percent slopes. Common to this soil type, pit 2 is located in a valley trains landform with a tread position. The surface layer is of a loamy sand texture. The bedrock depth is greater than 152.40 cm, but the water table is around 20.32 cm. The pit is poorly drained and very wet, and the sand and gravel parent material are of a mixed lithology. |
